Juicy and aromatic, this has notes of fresh herb, currant, green pepper and cherry. There`s a round, feminine side to this concentrated wine, that`s balanced by fresh acidity. Named after the 13th-century house at the center of the estate, this wine is ripe and smooth. With its sweet red fruits, the wine is soft, touched by caramel and finished with tannins. This is a style of Merlot that needs to age. Nice to see such a nice Merlot from this favorite appellation, which is a mixed bag overall. It`s sweet in chocolate-covered raisins and vanilla-laced bacon fat, but the berry, cherry and plum fruit is absolutely delicious, and the alcohol is moderate. A bit hot on the finish.
