Wine experts say this Red wine delivers as promised, with plenty of forward fruit and some sweetness as well as some herbal character. There is also a touch of cocoa and espresso, which adds weight and depth. The wine drinks beautifully, but the herbal character is a little too prominent, and the aftertaste is sharp. Drink up. Textbook Howell Mountain Zin, big and full-bodied, this Zin is a little sweet, and lacking a good middle. It offers some plum and woodsy flavors, but is short on a body that provides structure. This Cabernet Sauvignon-driven blend shows aromas of red currant, red bell pepper, and clove. The wine is full, fruity, well-balanced, and well-weighty with a spicy, dry finish. Rustic and a little sweet, with cherry pie and raspberry-jalapeño sauce flavors.

The midpalate richness of the wine is enhanced by rolling over tannins. It has enough structure to age for many years. Drink through 2023. Norm Yost doesn`t get his wine tasted more twice. This bottling shows that choice, with barely perceptible aromas of dry berry juice, sweat and wet dog fur. The palate is tight and tannic, with simultaneously raw beef and dry pork flavors. This is an affordable well-priced Virginia estate blend from a great vineyard. It`s direct and immediate, with juicy acidity, but it`s a little too sweet and forward. The raspberry, earthy cherry, persimmon and sandalwood flavors are delicious, but the wine finishes a little sweet.
